Understand financial markets, question trading strategies, and benefit from practical experience: In the "Inside Umbrella" podcast, Richard "Ritschy" Dobetsberger talks about current market developments, proven trading approaches, and the topics that move investors and traders. Tune in and gain well-founded insights directly from the field.
Richard Dobetsberger is one of the best-known and most successful wikifolio traders. But behind the track record is more than an impressive performance. This six-part podcast series is about the person, his method, and the next step in his development: from UMBRELLA to MUMAK.
Richard tells how he came to the stock market from molecular biology and the pharmaceutical industry. He explains how his thinking works. Scientific curiosity, probabilities, and discipline shape his decisions. It’s about the DNA of the UMBRELLA strategy, hits, mistakes, drawdowns, stop-loss logic, and liquidity.
There is also the question: What happens when a model portfolio is suddenly followed by a very large amount of capital? Richard also speaks openly about responsibility, independence, and his own money. Added to this are external pressure and the limits of social trading. Finally, it’s about MUMAK. A successful individual strategy is to become a professional research brand with its own methodology. A personal, timeless series about the stock market, mindset, and risk. It shows the evolution from trader to method.
The six-part podcast series portrays the successful wikifolio trader Richard Dobetsberger, his path from molecular biology to the stock market, and the methodology behind his UMBRELLA strategy. The focus is on scientific thinking, discipline, risk, and managing growing capital. Richard “Ritschy” Dobetsberger’s unusual path leads from the grocery store via construction sites and pharmaceutical research to the stock market. Since 2012, he has been running his own wikifolios; in 2024, he made stock trading his main profession. The focus is on system, curiosity, and consistent action. With MUMAK, he is developing his successful UMBRELLA strategy into a professional research brand. For him, money means above all freedom – and success, joy in his own work.
Financial journalism and market insights on the go: In the podcast "Inside Umbrella", Richard Dobetsberger regularly takes you behind the scenes of his strategies. Here, current economic news is dissected, the psychology of trading is discussed, and deeper insights into the famous Umbrella strategy are provided.
In the 20th anniversary episode of Inside UMBRELLA, the focus is on the strategic realignment of the UMBRELLA strategy toward high-quality companies with strong structural growth drivers. Ritschy talks about the new positions Thales, MercadoLibre, Palantir Technologies, TKMS, and SpaceX and explains why the exposure to the European defense sector was deliberately expanded with Thales and TKMS.
In episode 19, we look back at a June that brought the UMBRELLA strategy both strong performance and a strategic realignment. Ritschy explains why healthcare now forms the core of the portfolio and why the four largest positions now account for almost 60 percent of assets. We discuss Revolution Medicines, established titles like Apple, IBM, and Bayer, and the outlook for the second half of 2026.
In episode 18, we discuss a recently challenging phase for the Umbrella strategy. Ritschy is not satisfied with the past few weeks and has strategically realigned the portfolio. The energy focus remains but is supplemented by a stronger weighting in technology, artificial intelligence, healthcare, and defense. This time, Louis joins us, and we also talk about SpaceX and the Austrian AT&S.
In episode 17, we introduce Lina Mosentseva, whom we have mentioned several times in the mumak.me context. Lina is also taking on the Opening Bell for the Vienna Stock Exchange Party today, on the public holiday on which trading takes place. This time, there has been a five-week gap since the previous episode. Conclusion: the energy focus remains, but it is no longer quite as “pure” as it was the month before. And four new holdings are also presented.
In episode 15, we talk about the shift “Pretty much all-in on energy”—now it is not just pretty much, but fully in that direction. We explain which eight holdings are in the selection as of the cut-off date, with a focus on oil and gas companies. There are also spoilers for April 17: Umbrella Austria as the key phrase.
The days so far in March have brought the biggest shift in portfolio composition since the pandemic. Ritschy is now betting on oil and explains exactly why; which specific holdings are involved is discussed in the podcast. The cash allocation is also at a record-high level. On Saturday, you can meet Ritschy in person at Börsentag Vienna.
It was a difficult month; the January gains had to be given back. There was a strategy stress test with a stop-loss wave, a high in trading volume, as well as an increase in assets under management and a temporarily higher cash allocation. Of course, we also talk about the newcomers Deutsche Post and BHP, as well as the sales of Novo Nordisk and Barrick Mining.
Starting point: 2025 is done at +22%, 2026 is already at +3%. We have four new holdings vs. the December podcast, present them, and derive that this wikifolio essentially starts at 100 (percent) every day because the composition can change from one day to the next. The historical performance basically only shows the evaluation/bottom line of past trades by the trader. We also talk about Dresden, Lilli Tagger and Ritschy’s podcast & book project for beginners, which will also be a collaboration.
